We are wearing 09:37 T-shirts

I never was a "blend in" person. Not once in my whole life. It was a blessing and a curse in the same time.

People always gossiped about me, I was among those girls who other girls just love to hate and most of all, I never made efforts to be a nice person. If it came naturally I was great, if not I love being a hell cat too.

With this circumstances it was only natural to attract people who share the same characteristics like me.

Adela is the underground queen! She's naturally born for this type of social crowds. We are fundamentally  different cause I'm the mainstream countess. They call me the glam mainstreamer cause I always tell them that I don't understand their snobbism, I just stay loyal to mine. I made this comparison just to highlight the fact that we are in some aspects of our lies different but in the essential ones, like values or principles we thing alike. And that's the essential thing when one decides to be friends with another.

That's why her most important attribute in my eyes is the fact that she is my friend! And we are indeed the crazy kind of friends, God know I'm not exaggerating.

This being said, My Snobbish Advice for you guys is:

Live your life and make your choices!
Find those people that make you feel special and appreciated and hold on to them.

The real glamour is being snobbishly enough to not care about what other people might say about your actions but to live them among inspirational people! (Adela, I just payed you a compliment. You're my slave for ever!)

You got it by now that this column does not consist in real snobbery advices but in, let's call them "small commercial life lessons".

The only real snobbish act in my opinion is to be able to look back at your life and your choices regarding the people you chose to spent your time and choices regarding your actions, and know that you have chosen with your mind not with someone else's. Not because your crowd said it was "cool" or because you wanted to be "fashionable".

Being atypically might seem or even be a curse in some moments in your life but then again, history never rememberes a follow-up character it always rememberes the ones who stand-out!

Btw, number 12, congrats, you won the Moleskine notebook from Book Express.
Send me an email with your contacts.

Yeyy

Au revoir,
Ana

Every now and then you get to see on High Street Cardigans different projects or stories about certain people.  "Every now and then" because I don't get to see often people that inspire me and this is not a copy/paste the press communicates type of blog. Nor a fashion journalism one. This is my online registry where I tell you guys the things from my day by day life that tell me a story.

So, be certain that when I choose to speak about a project it's because that project has in my opinion, a certain value.

I may be a hell cat but I respect you guys, my readers, and I don't wanna recommend or talk with you about all kinds of new shits which actually say or mean nothing.

Anyways, enough with the useless mumbling.

Dear people who are not working but reading blogs on the internet,

please welcome and be amazed by "The Book Cover Tee"!
Glamorously brought to you by Noemi Revnic and 109.

The Book Cover Tee is a project which presents inspirational people putting their vision of a favorite holiday book on a summer tee.

Noemi and Marius, Razvan Firea (Le Petit Indigent - we talked about his modern countess like designs here) Antz &Carla Szabo, Robert Ratiu &Ioana Ulmeanu, Ovidiu Buta and last but not least the inspirational Valeria Moldovan, signed and designed the first Book Cover Tee's.

I choose to wear Ovidiu's version because Virgina Wolf is among the writers who helped me define certain values in life.

I loved his interpretation of Orlando's synopsis. You need authentic attitude and a naturally born easiness to be able to come up with the whole concept and presentation in only four minutes after you heard about the project you are invited in.

I learned from Orlando that it's better not to judge someone before walking a mile in his shoes. Ovidiu teaches me everyday that you are really happy in the moment you let go living for others.

And now, the proof that since I received it I never got out of it!

I hope you agree with my decision of speaking about this project.

It's one of the few projects that tell a story! And as I said it many times, we really need to be surrounded by great stories! It allows us to dream and smile with our hearts.

So guys,

I salute you!

You can buy the Book Cover Tee's from Anthony Frost library, Carturesti or Bastilia.

And here we are, delayed a few days but then again, it's only Snobbish-er (?!) so it's all good.

Stop telling me that my tits are at my knees! I know, ok? I have big boobs and I'm old, Goooddd, mean, little persons!

Here's a thing about me and holidays. You cannot take me on a holiday and keep me there more than four days. I'm a freak control, I cannot delegate and most of all, I work in a field where the principal tool is ones creativity, I cannot send my assistant do what only I can do! Makes sense? Okk, maybe not but I said I'm a personal shopper not a mentally sane human being.

Anyways, long story short, I love city breaks.
They are effective like an ibuprofen shoot and last max four days. Bliss!

But most of all, I love out of nowhere and totally unplanned city breaks. Those kind in which you are in a restaurant, having dinner on a Friday evening and in the next 20 minutes you are in your car driving God knows where.

Therefore (I think I always say "Therefore"), My Snobbish Advice this week is:

Find that one place near you and make it yours. I shouldn't be an glam or hip in the usual kind of way. All the glamourousnes will come just from this, from the fact that it will be the place where you feel energized and totally relaxed. Where you don't care what the people near you drink or what kind of branded swimming suit you should wear, where you just go and enjoy being you in all the hedonist kind of ways. (that's hard shit for many of you, I know! Yes, I said YOU cause I'm a vain person, it's by default that I enjoy being myself. Don't worry, I have other flaws)

Since I discovered Balcik last year, it became that sort of place for me. I usually to go there in autumn but this time was my first choice when I had only 3 minutes to think to where should we head on last Friday evening.

I'm not gonna bore you with other "wow-s"  and stories of how cool was to have three days without a phone and social pressure (we all feel it, stop saying otherwise).

You should consider it - it close, it's not all that cheesy and tacky like our seaside and you can be You there, without internet and Facebook and Instagram and all the city social drugs.

For me it has one word: peaceful! And after all, as an evolved individual of this society, this is our supreme desideratum.

Peaceful stopped being an option on Sunday morning when I met my friend...The hungover!

I never knew when to stop with all the gin tonics.
Alka-Seltzer - remind me, next time to take them everywhere.

I loved Lindsay Lohan in the last issue of LOVE. I loved her since Rachel made her a chic rock star and I kept loving her even when everybody else stopped. You cannot judge someone before knowing what she went through.

I love my mass market statement necklace too. I know, you got it already, I spammed you with it enough lately. But I love it, it's so Belle Epoque likeee, so let me be!

Ahh, I'm gonna tell you now, before I forget, or set my mind on to other useless things, my adventure with Instagram.

I used it for the first time at the beginning of 2011, got bored and put it behind me until some time earlier this year. Since I'm a short memory, little person, I forgot that everything I edit through it gets instantly published. I was somehow left with the impression that I should first log in to be able to do that.

Therefore, I was editing pictures just to have them filtered like that in my I phone. Intimate pictures if you know what I mean - me, dressed only in underpants and other soft porn things like this. After two months or so, time in which I was publishing these sort of pics once / day at least, a friend of mine told me that they are  online and people can actually see them.

I'm only gonna tell you this: those several minutes that took to frantically delete them seemed an eternity!

There, now you my instagramized, deepest/darkest secret!
Now, I'm more responsible or at least I'm dressed!

You can check at  @highstreetcardigans (in case the picture wasn't specific enough)

Don't forget about the Moleskine notebook from Book Express! Read and follow the steps and it can be yours.

Au revoir,
Ana

Hellooo dear people who read this blog,

I know I was absent in our Friday Snobbish Advice. Leave me alone, I'm only human people, a human who works! Ha! You thought that everything it's all glam didn't you? Well no, I have to  work just like all of you. Taddaa, the horror surprise!

Well, so that you can see that I actually have a heart and some small and vague feeling...please take note that I'VE MISSED YOU!!! And write this down somewhere cause it may be the first and the last time you hear me make such candid and warm statements (Because I'm stoned in love, ok? Yes, this might be a good argument! I'm stoned in love now take a walk!)

Ok, enough with all my stupidity and fractiousness! I really did, you know? Missed you! But don't tell anyone, they might think that I actually have a heart!

I was telling you guys on Molecule F's blog about my already known and declared love for all the eccentric women throughout history and present times.

What I didn't tell you yet is the absolute fascination I have for Lilian Bassman's photography. Google her pictures and you'll totally get my point of view. All the feminine and mysterious women, the diva like dresses, the abstract color photography...she's the perfect posterity messenger for the typology of woman that I so much adore.

If she was still alive I would have posed for her in this Le Petit Indigent dress.
I adore it! It has the perfect material, the most mysterious cuts and above all, this dress tells her own story!

The only thing you could do is hope that You are the main character in it!

Now - our weekly agenda:

- don't forget about the Moleskine notebook you can win, if you do all the steps first.

- tomorrow we'll speak about our vacation plans and The Snobbish Advice

 annndddd on Wednesday

- the next "what the fuck happened??!" in "A Series of Really Strange Events"

Goodbyeeee!!!

THEY COME IN PEACE
July 19, 2012

I've made up my mind, maybe I'm a different breed...the perfect hybrid!

I love simplicity in fashion but hate simple thinking individuals, I crave certain brands but I don't make them my goals, I love this blog and all of you but there are certain people and events in my life that I keep to myself and most important of all, I gossip but very rare judge.

Ok, ok, relax, I'll stop bragging!

Moving on with our daily agenda... here's a new thing you should hear about! At least you can give me that...I tell you guys only the coolest things you should search for or invest in.

Now, you might tend to say here's another alternative fashion/cultural magazine...

Well my friend, you are positively right! Here's another alternative/fashion/cultural magazine! Started online, ended up in print. Great hell of a deal, I might say! (and I'm not a bit ironical)

They called it  ALL HOLLOW

If you are somehow related to this field - called here figuratively "fashion" - you have heard about ID, Numero, WWD, Purple, Love and so on.

Some of them don't actually say something meaningful, they sell themselves as an underground alternative to the mainstream ones.  But when we find one that actually does and on top of it it's a Romanian one, well my friend, that is a moment of glory!

I love what  Barna wrote in the editor's letter. Modesty in creative people is a very rare quality!

They aimed for non commercial and they actually did it! With common sense, originality and passion. I loved Veronica's daring and Monica Birladeanu proved that simplicity is only for the sophisticated ones. So did Oana and Bianca with the impeccable styling.

Go buy "Decat o revista" - you'll find ALL HOLLOW!
And stay tuned for their September issue!

Till then, for more interesting/artsy news check All HOLLOW's blog daily.

Before I go I have a surprise for you! - ha! And you were about to say that I'm not jolly anymore!

You all heard about Moleskine, no?

As documented by many art collections and museums, in the late 19th to early 20th centuries, these nameless notebooks became a prominent creative tool for avant-garde artists who enjoyed drawing and writing outdoors; putting down impressions on paper; painting from life in the streets and cafés; and capturing scenes, ideas, and emotions.
Among artists who used similar black notebooks were  Oscar Wilde, Picasso, Hemingway, Matisse and Van Gogh.

Well, Book Express is giving one of you a Moleskine notebook as a gift!

All you have to do is:

- LIKE Book Express on Facebook

- Follow High Street cardigans through Google Friend Connect

We'll have a winner, on Friday, the 27th.

Till then visit their online library, from art and fashion albums to all sorts of books, you'll find everything! And their delivery services are among the most efficient I've seen in this field.

Please note that if you will leave more than one comment it will be counted as one and make sure you follow all the steps before the deadline day.

AVON LIKES YOU!
July 17, 2012

AVON needs no introduction.

I love their AVON LIKES YOU campaign because it inspires us to be daring, sensual, powerful and sophisticated. To experiment with all the values of our femininity and act like true queens that we really are.

When they wrote me asking if I would like be a part of this project I was thrilled.

?

Because the values that are spoken of in their campaign are the same ones that we always talk about on High Street Cardigans.

So, now, I want to show you guys three women that I LIKE and have those qualities which AVON encourages you to find in yourself.

Diana Ticiu - Life coach & psychologist

Diana is wearing a Stephan Pelger dress  available at Stephan Pelger showroom

Alex, you really are talented, thank you for bearing our stupidity!

Mirela Bucovicean - owner Molecule F.com

Mirela is wearing skirt/blouse/necklaces by Parlor - all available at Molecule F Showroom

Anca, you are my hero! Thank you for taking this picture!

Roxana Marcu - owner Sunglass Curator.com

Roxana is wearing Linda Farrow Luxe sunglasses available on Sunglass Curator.com

Serban, thank you for ...this picture?!! ?No, Thank you for everything!

All these ladies are the living proof of the fact that strength and femininity can coexist in harmony in the same woman, even if some of you call them "viperess". They develop great businesses, live the life of a rock star and make their dreams a reality.

You should be inspired cause at the end of the day history only remembers the ones of us who create real value. Dressing up all cool it's a great adventure but the real shit is developing great life stories...maybe you can borrow a piece of clothing but you cannot borrow authentic personality!

And last but not least, I LIKE AVON

 for having this initiative!

So, be inspired by AVON and focus on that! Trends come and go but being fashionable means living your life out loud!

.

I case you are wondering, I don't know, ok? I don't know why I hold my lips like that. I was making stupid faces in the mirror listening to Irene Cara and feeling like Flashdance's Jennifer Beals so let's avoid "the drama!" Ok?

I always loved the 80's, with the over sized...everything, with all the 80's disco pop stars like Irene Cara, Berlin, Modern Talking, Sandra, Depeche Mode and so on.

Cheesy but it's a fact, I love them, let me be.

And here's the icing on the cake: On Sundays, when I need a dose of positivity and movement (yes, this is the only time when I make some sort of dynamics, I'm still a sedentary person) I press Play on "My Father is a Rockstar" Ipod list and the show is set on motion.

It lasts...a while, until my neighbor bangs the pipes to let me know that I'm overreacting.

For more details on this matter and on my 80's disco pop obsession read my article on Molecule F's BLOG

I'm raving over this Lena Criveanu beige body! It's so feminine and delicate.

As I said, I hear Irene in the background singing "I wanna live foreverrrr...I this body from Lena Criveanuuuu.

Serban loved it too. So this means that Lena's body is both feminine and sexyyy (great property I might add)

Shop this Lena Criveanu body at Molecule F's showroom (Dumbrava Rosie street, nr. 2)

Before I go and start another busy week. Yes, I know, we all are, busy that is. I just love to make a little "drama" out of it.

I got scolded because I did not publish the sequel of "A Series of Really Strange Events". I'm sorry guys, I just had lots of..other things to tell you ?!?! Ok, ok, I will do it this week. I just stopped because some of the characters were beginning to make fuss about it. So stay toned these next days, ok?

Au revoir, kittens!

THE SHORT HISTORY LESSON
July 15, 2012

Hello people,

I'm back in this modern jungle called our city. Why am I back so early on Sunday? Well, since nothing is normal around here neither my profession is. Therefore, now I have to run to a client of mine to build-up the outfits she is going to take with her in a unplanned vacation. I almost feel like an emergency doctor.

My humble apologies for missing our Friday - Snobbish Advice column. I was madly busy. We will take care of that tomorrow. Until then, it's Sunday, we're relaxed, or at least some of us are (you, I mean you!)  so let's read a little history lesson, shall we?

C'monnn, it's not boring, you'll love it!

What the Victorians did for your wardrobe

What the Victorians did for us as a society is well documented – from the steam engine and
the photograph, to the sewing machine and the ice cream, the Victorians invented an awful
lot. But less talked about is what they did for fashion – and you might be surprised.

Queen Victoria was an influential woman. Not just as a monarch, but as a woman who
was unafraid of change and risk. She came to the throne at a mere eighteen years old, and
reigned for longer than any other monarch in British history. In many ways, it’s unsurprising
that such a strong fashion sense came to the fore under her reign. Although Victorians
dressed very differently to the way we dress now, there are key elements that remain.

One thing that the Victorians left to us was Levi jeans. In 1873, Levi Strauss launched his
blue denim jeans company, and history was made. Nearly 140 years later, Levi’s jeans are
still fashionable and widely worn all over the world.

The traditional white wedding dress was also a Victorian development. Victoria wore one to
her wedding in 1840, and it was then that the trend of having a white wedding dress really
took off. Although white wedding dresses had been worn before this time, it was the then
Queen of England who popularized the fashion. The basic style has not changed much since
that royal wedding, and that, in itself, says much about how influential the Victorian era
was.

The Gothic style of clothing is obviously much influenced by the Victorians. But Gothic
trends have filtered into high fashion too. Painful looking corsets, crucifixes and dark red
lipstick have become synonymous with popular burlesque entertainment, which was also
developed as a theatrical show in the Victorian era. The corseted look has grown with the
emergence of burlesque as a fashionable form of entertainment, fronted by style icon Dita
Von Teese.

‘Lolita’ fashion is another Victorian allusion. It’s a style of dressing popularized by a
mass trend in Japan – and picked up on runways in the West – where frilled dresses and
a ‘princess’ style attire is referenced in a modern wardrobe.

Victorian style also remains in our footwear. Lace-up boots with lots of tiny eyelets are
reminiscent of Victorian styles, as are ankle boots with side buttons.

aa? What do you think?

p.s. I know you wonder what's with the balloons.
